Like our beef, our lambs mostly come from John Gate’s farm in Lostock.
John grazes his Lambs on Tabley House parkland and the Cheshire Show Ground allowing them to grow at a natural rate. In the autumn months they are housed in John’s barns and fed his owm sheep rations produced from corn that John has grown himself. The result is a fantastic product that is consistent in quality and taste and is truely Cheshire born and bred. Every year, for a limited time only, we are fortunate enough to get our hands on some salt marsh lamb from the Holker estate in Cumbria. From the salt marshes around the Cartmel peninsula on Morecambe Bay, the Salt Marsh lambs spend most of their lives free to roam over the vast Holker estate. The lambs’ special diet of herbal grasses is enriched with sea salt, giving the lamb a beautiful light and sweet taste. So watch out for that in our shops!
