What we do
Established in 1918, we at Littlers have provided a much needed service to the local community for nearly a century now and our meat has always been of the highest quality and locally sourced where possible. In December of 1998 Darren Shepherd joined the chain of Littlers owners and has not only done justice to the Littlers’ name, but has expanded its legacy by opening another shop in Hartford in November 2009.
Our team of highly skilled butchers work extremely hard in sourcing and cutting the finest meat, which appears beautifully presented in our counters in Sandiway and Hartford and in approximately forty top catering establishments in the area. Darren has managed to maintain the Littlers’ tradition of no-frills butchery, whilst moving with the times by providing a wide selection of more specialist meats and a variety of new products, satisfying the modern-day consumer.
Darren: “I have spent my whole life in the meat industry, from delivering as a young lad to working in the abattoir with my father, to farming my own sheep; so having worked in and explored most sides to the business I have a clear idea on how a good butchers should be, and that is what I’ve tried to achieve with Littlers. It should always be about the quality of the meat, a great service and somewhere that places itself at the heart of the community. I know what I’m looking for when I visit the farms where I source my meat and I stick to traditional butchery techniques whilst using modern machinery to provide you with an efficient farm-to-fork service.”
